Agate

     Agate is a variety of Chalcedony.  Agates are a very common stone, but certain varieties are outstanding because of the banding, which usually curves, and the color variation that occurs when the Agate replaces the mineral it merges with. 
     Petrified wood is an example of an Agate which has replaced the wood.
