Diamond

A Diamond is a "native" element, lacking in metal and makes for a poor conductor.  Diamonds are made of solid carbon.  They are formed at high temperatures in deep volcanic pipes.
Most diamonds, because of flaws or undesirable color, are used for industrial grinding and cutting.  Although diamonds are the hardest known mineral on Earth, it is very brittle and breaks easily when struck.
A diamond can be colorless, yellow, brown, black, blue, green or red, depending upon its impurities.
